MEDECO HIGH SECURITY LOCKS |
|
|
How confident are you that your facility is secure? Do you have control of every key that's
been
issued? Do you believe that keyholders are sharing keys? Are you considering systems that
offer
more than you need? Do you fully understand the benefits of the available systems? The job
of
ensuring security has become extremely complex due to the number of options available that
all claim to offer true and complete security. It is important to carefully evaluate the
actions
you have taken or plan to take to determine the realistic outcome of each one.
High Security with Patented Key Control:
Medeco3 is our premier brand technology.
These cylinders
have earned a UL437 Listing, the ANSI/BHMA A156.30
Level A certification, and are classified as high security
because of their superior resistance to physical attack and
protection against unauthorized key duplication. The
Medeco3 locking technology employs pick resistant pin
tumblers that must elevate and rotate to the proper position
and interact with a slider mechanism and sidebar for the
lock cylinder to operate when the correct key is inserted.
The slider and sidebar are two components that provide
additional locking of internal parts not found in traditional
cylinders. Our newest technology, the
Medeco3 product line, was introduced
in 2003 with patent protection
until 2021. Because of its superior
key control and physical strength, we
recommend Medeco3 products for new
installations or when retrofitting systems that do not
include small format interchangeable core cylinders.
Card Restricted - Patriot System
Offers physical protection and utility patent protected
keys. Requires authorization card and signature verification to obtain
duplicate keys. Keys are cut at a limited number of contract controlled
factory authorized service centers.
Patent protected Cylinders - KeyMark KeyMark offers
utility patented key control without the physical pick and drill resistance
of Biaxial. The patented Security Leg keyway gives the key blank its unique
shape and provides a high level of security by protecting against
unauthorized duplicate keys in your system and provides some resistance to
picking. KeyMark cylinders will fit into most common locks as vvell as Best
style inter-changeable core installations.

Key Control & Technology |
|
|
The security of any locking system is dependent upon
two very important factors. The first of these is its physical strength
against picking, drilling and forcing. The second is the controlled
duplication of existing keys for that lock or lock system. Historically,
unauthorized key duplication has played a major role in compromising even the
most sophisticated security systems. Tenants, maintenance personnel, and
employees with even temporary access to original keys have no problem getting
duplicates made for their own use. The warning "Do Not Duplicate" stamped on
a key is merely a challenge for most non-professional key duplicators. The
basic problem is that most key blanks and common key cutting machines are
easy to obtain. Medeco® has counter-acted the key control problem by doing
three things:
1. Medeco® manufactures cylinders, which use keys that must
be made on special key cutting machines. These machines must be capable of
reproducing the angled cuts and critical tolerances necessary to reproduce a
workable key.
2. Medeco® sells its high quality, precision-machined
cylinders and locks only to professional security industries such as
locksmith wholesalers and retailers, contract hardware and alarm equipment
suppliers. Every Medeco® key blank is marked with its name to identify it
as an authorized key blank that will work properly in Medeco products and
give long product life.
3. Medeco® has successfully litigated its right to
protect against unauthorized manufacture and distribution of its restricted
key blanks.

Knob Cylinders |
|
|
Medeco knob type cylinders (Key-In-Knob) are available for virtually any
application. They are ideal for installations where either patented key control or UL437
protection
must he retrofitted into existing hardware. Both Medeco Biaxial® and KeyMark® are
available for
most common hardware used. All Medeco key-in-knob cylinders are constructed of solid brass
and,
depending on your needs, can include drill resistant inserts. These cylinders are most
commonly
used in cylindrical locksets, deadbolts and padlocks from Medeco or other major
manufacturers to
upgrade the security level of their locks.

Interchangeable Core Cylinders |
|
|
Available in both small (Best style) and large (Medeco proprietary) formats,
Medeco interchangeable core cylinders enable non-technical personnel to
quickly change a lock with the use of a special key. It takes less than ten
seconds to replace the core, saving cost and greatly enhancing overall
security. Key control, vital to a business with a high employee turnover
rate, can easily be maintained without having to rekey or change door
hardware. KeyMark small format I/C cylinders will retrofit Best style installations making them ideal for
applications where a patented key control is required. Medeco I/C cylinders,
incorporating a larger size core, add the security of UL437 protection to the
convenience of interchangeable core hardware. All Medeco I/C cylinders are
constructed of high-quality solid brass and can easily be combinated in
the field for even more system flexibility.

MAXUM® Deadbolt |
|
|
The Maxum® deadbolt was designed to withstand the
toughest attacks. With a ANSI grade 1 rating, the Maxum incorporates a high
security strike plate with 2" screws that anchor the strike directly to the
building structure behind the frame. It also features a hardened steel bolt
and bolt throwing mechanism, surrounded by a heavy-gauge tubular steel
housing for maximum resistance to attack. The Maxum® incorporates the
patented Biaxial® double locking principle for resistance to picking and
has strategically placed hardened steel inserts to reduce the risk of
drilling attack. The Maxum® is available in single cylinder, double
cylinder, and a unique child-safe design featuring a removable thumb-turn
key.

Padlocks |
|
|
Medeco offers 3 types of padlocks: The System series, The Metro
Series and the Brass body padlock. The System series will key into most
existing Medeco masterkey systems. It is available with a shrouded shackle
design or with thermoplastic weather guards for harsh environment
applications and multiple shackle lengths. The Medeco MetroLock® padlock is
a solid steel design padlock. They are available in 3 body styles, all
featuring hardened steel, chrome plated bodies and Medeco's pick and drill
resistant double locking action. The Brass body padlock is available in two
versions: the removable cylinder and the interchangeable core design. Both
padlocks have a cylinder or core which is UL listed and virtually pick-proof
and drill-proof. Both have hardened steel inserts for high security
protection. The padlock cases are constructed of brass with shackles of
stainless steel for corrosion protection or hardened steel for protection
against sawing.
Masterkey Systems
Masterkey systems of any size available. Medeco has pioneered extremely large
masterkey systems through our exclusive use of angled cuts on our keys. With
one key, facilities can access deadbolts, mortise locks, doors, padlocks,
even electronic access control systems, reducing the number of keys carried
and tracked by maintenance and security staff. With millions of combinations,
Medeco can accommodate even the largest installations. In addition, Medeco
eliminates the need to use sectional keys in most systems, increasing the
system's overall security.
